2nd Cyprus Jazz & World Music Showcase 2015

The 2nd Jazz and World Music Showcase opens this Friday, 27th November 2015 at Rialto Theatre. During the two- day event, on the 27th & 28th November, audiences will have the chance to enjoy eight bands from Cyprus and one from Luxembourg.
The Showcase was fist organised last year following an initiative of the Cyprus Music Information Centre and the Rialto Theatre, with the support of the Cultural Services of the Ministry of Education and Culture. This year, the programme includes Luxembourgian band Pol Belardi’s Force (LX) who will be performing in the framework of an established collaboration with the organisation music:LX.
Through this collaboration, one Cypriot band will be given the opportunity to travel to Luxembourg and perform at a similar showcase event. In this way, the efforts of the Showcase to encourage international collaborations between Cypriot musicians and international music professionals, are being enhanced.
All the bands will be presenting their own original compositions and arrangements. The programme is carefully put together by the participants, and the two–day Showcase event is bound to offer a unique sonar experience to the audience, thanks to the original music and the musicians’ unique approach to jazz music.

Representatives of cultural organisations and international festivals will attend the Showcase, (Red Sea Jazz Festival, Caravan mobile Kulturprojekte, Womex Music Expo, Kozani Jazz Festival, music:LX, CultureWorks, Fondation SUISA, Middlesex University κ.α.) in the framework of promoting contemporary Cypriot musicians and an attempt to build bridges and further collaborations between musicians, organisers and international festivals.
